Singapore, 2 December 2020 – Dual-concept bar Barbary Coast has completely transformed its downstairs venue, Deadfall, into Christmas on Canal – decking the halls with festive décor and introducing new seasonal menus. Running through 27 December, this limited-time Christmas pop-up takes decorating to a whole new level, completely covering the venue in Christmas wrapping paper, twinkling lights, ornaments and more. Step into the bar and transport yourself to the North Pole, with Deadfall fully reinvented as a winter wonderland.
Cosy up under the sparkling Christmas lights and toast to the season with a selection of holiday cocktails (S$20++), each served in custom holiday glassware for the occasion. Highlights include the Drunk Uncle Mulled Wine, a warming mix of red wine with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, triple sec, pear, citrus and spices, the Ho Ho Holy Sh!t It’s Christmas with Monkey Shoulder, Buffalo Trace Bourbon, pimento dram, maple and burnt pecan bitters and the Hallelujah Hot Chocolate with a choice of whiskey, bourbon, tequila or rum, poured with melted dark chocolate and marshmallows. ‘Tis the season to be tipsy, so treat yourself to shots like Christmas Scofflaw and Santa’s Godfather at S$10 a pop.
Settle in by the Christmas tree and indulge in the Deadfall Christmas Chew Over, a sumptuous menu with Chef Heryadi’s take on favourite Christmas dishes to get you into the holiday spirit. Start with hearty vegetarian options from Today’s Pickings with the Yuletide Christmas Salad with mesclun, maple, charred squash, feta and candied walnut ($14) and Butternut Squash Soup served with smoked heirloom carrots, sage créme and cranberry coulis ($10). Gather your loved ones for the sharing plates such as the Argentinian Christmas Carpaccio with spiced pulled pork, red cabbage slaw and smoked gruyere ($15) and Grinch’s Gratin Dip with brussels sprouts, a selection four cheeses, applewood bacon and chestnuts ($14).
For entrees, two long-time Deadfall favourites have been reimagined for the season: the Holiday ‘Cubano’ with spiced pulled pork, red cabbage & slaw and smoked gruyere ($15/20) and The Seasonal T.T.W Sando served with duck fat tater tot waffles, red cabbage sauerkraut, smoked cheddar, and a choice of honey glazed ham or smoked turkey ($18). Guests who have been extra good this year can also treat themselves to a Christmas Dinner-Plate special, the Santa’s Helper, with beef wellington served with mushroom forestiére, sauce chasseur and celeriac puree ($28).
Finish your meal with the sweetest treats from the desserts menu like Gingerbread Cookies ($10), traditional Fruit Mince Pies with shortcrust pastry and port géle ($10) and Apple Tarts with Fuji apple, cinnamon crumble, and Tahitian vanilla ($10).
