Nestlé Malaysia has launched NESCAFÉ Classic Kopi Kedah, the company’s first-ever 100% home-grown coffee in Malaysia. The coffee beans come from the Nescafé Grown Respectfully Programme, a sustainable coffee farming initiative launched in Kedah in 2019, according to the press release. Over 100 farmers have participated in the programme.
NESCAFÉ Classic Kopi Kedah (170g) has a suggested retail price of RM 23.02 and was launched into the market on 1 December 2020.

Localism, the act of buying or supporting local product, has emerged as a stronger theme during COVID-19 as governments mobilised their population to support local products especially those made by SMEs. Consumers are also showing a stronger interest in products from locally owned, independent businesses. We saw a lot more of these local brands emerging selling through social media and e-commerce. Some of them could rise up and shake up the market.
