IPC Shopping Centre Seeks to #KitaJagaKita with 12-Hours Virtual New Year’s Eve Countdown

The community shopping centre is turning the iconic Mutiara Damansara New Year’s Eve party into a digital pandemic-friendly celebration

Kuala Lumpur, December 28, 2020 – Setting a benchmark in Malaysia’s retail landscape,  IPC Shopping Centre is ringing in the new year through an innovative ‘phygital’ celebration with its ‘IPC Live Shopping Fiesta’. Upholding the annual Mutiara Damansara New Year’s Eve countdown festival, the shopping centre will be adapting the event into a 12-hour continuous shoppable livestream consisting of exclusive deals, giveaways, and entertainment from local and international artists.

Running from 12.30 pm on 31 December 2020 until 12.30 am the next day, it will be Malaysia’s longest and fully shoppable Facebook Live. Viewers can shop virtually at their favourite IPC stores and participate in games and giveaways hosted by influencers such as Tata Wanqian, Koe Yeet, Natalie Chai, Fiza Saad, Ming Yue Ho, and Adzrin Mansor.

The countdown will climax with music performances by international singer-songwriter, Jeremy Zucker, and local songstress, Talitha Tan. Jeremy’s much anticipated exclusive performance is made possible with the collaboration and support of Spotify and Universal Music Group.

“We are delighted to still be able to hold onto our tradition of hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration for the community – except this time, virtually to reach a wider audience,” said Karyn Lim, General Manager of IPC Shopping Centre. “While we are seeing a positive recovery in visitation in the past couple of weeks, we remain committed to supporting our tenants. Therefore, like how Malaysians have risen to the occasion to #kitajagakita, we are thrilled to support 100 over brands across almost 40 tenants, ranging from Home Furnishing, Fashion & Sportswear, Beauty & Health, Food & Beverages, and Kids, Education & Technology, during the livestream. This New Year’s Eve will be slightly different for all, but we hope to continue offering exciting, fun and more importantly, safe celebration for the community.”

The tenants participating with their exclusive offers include IKEA Damansara, Harvey Norman, All IT Hypermarket, Fitness Concept, Popular Bookstore, Aeon Wellness, Padini Outlet, Happikiddo, Focus Point, Brands Outlet, Skechers, Dr. Hauschka, Jurlique, Crocs, Natural Home Décor, Cuticle The Nail Experts, Eight Days Salon, Stoneage by Good2U, Niki Cains Home, O.W.L Eyewear, Spotlight, Thule, Lelas, Hair Zone Studio by Michael Poh, Original Classic, Tsen Lighting, Oriental Persian Carpets, Brow & Co., and GMG TIMEWARE. Food and Beverage (F&B) tenants also include Hana Japanese Dining, Noodle Shack, Ichiban Ramen, Paradise Dynasty, Bucket B Café, and Bru.Day.

Kenneth Aruldoss, Managing Director of Harvey Norman Asia, shared, “Without a doubt, the retail industry has had a challenging year. However, IPC has always been a strong partner to Harvey Norman, always innovating to ensure visitors keep coming. We are excited to be part of the livestreaming initiative as it certainly brings a new approach to how customers interact with shopping centres.”

Elaine Chew, CEO of Happikiddo, added, “We know shopping habits are no longer like what they were during pre-COVID days. As a baby concept store, we have not only increased our online presence to stay relevant to our customers but also integrated seamlessly with IPC’s marketing initiatives. We both share the same family-focused agenda, and nothing is more rewarding than giving new and existing parents fewer worries, and a more hassle-free experience, through this virtual event.”

The ‘IPC Live Shopping Fiesta’ offers shoppers a unique way to shop and be engaged as they welcome the new year. The 12-hour livestream event features tenants promoting their products and special deals, where shoppers can make their purchases anytime until 3 January 2021 within the Facebook platform. Also, IPC is collaborating with Lalamove to meet the same-day-delivery shopping demands for purchases made before 9 pm within Klang Valley. Shoppers can enjoy free delivery, capped at RM20 when they are the first 500 to make a purchase on 31 December 2020.
