You usually hear them before you see them, the festive sound of drums and cymbals associated with a Lion Dance performance. Traditionally meant to bring good luck and fortune, the Lion Dance is an iconic part of the Lunar New Year celebrations.

But this year in our unique circumstances, such festivities are hard to come by. However, CapitaLand has found an alternative to bring the joyful performance to its shoppers — through an Augmented Reality (AR) Lion Dance performance.

A first in Singapore, CapitaLand’s Spring to Joy Virtual Lion Dance (凯德迎春) campaign entertains its shoppers anytime and anywhere on their mobile devices. Shoppers can view the Lion Dance performance in the comfort and safety of their homes through a URL link.

The campaign kicked off on 29 January 2021 and will give away over 20 million STAR$® (worth S$20,000 eCapitaVoucher) to lucky shoppers. In addition, from 29 January till 26 February 2021, shoppers can stand a chance to win over 188,000 sets of rewards worth over 20 million STAR$®. Shoppers simply need to take a photo with the AR Lion and unlock a unique reward code, which can be redeemed bia the CapitaStar app. The reward codes contain attractive prizes such as 8,888 STAR$® to be won, and S$8 off with a minimum spend of S$58 on eCapitaMall.
