Healthy Together – Ara Damansara Medical Centre Brings Holistic Healthcare To Ara Impian

Community Wellness Day Features Free Health Screenings, Expert-Led Talks, and Hands-On Training To Support Residents In Safeguarding Their Health

Ara Damansara, 17 August 2025 – Ara Damansara Medical Centre (ADMC), in collaboration with Persatuan Penduduk Ara Impian, Ara Damansara, hosted Healthy Together – Caring for Our Community, a community outreach programme to promote healthy living, identifying clinical emergencies, and timely access to the essential healthcare services. Held at Ara Impian, the event brought together residents of all ages for a vibrant day of free health screenings, wellness activities, and expert guidance from the specialists from the hospital.

Guests included YB Tuan Lee Chean Chung, Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya and YB Tuan Dr Fahmi Ngah, EXCO Agama Islam dan Pembangunan Inovasi Negeri Selangor and State Assemblyman for Seri Setia.

“The health of a community begins with awareness, education and the right support,” said Ms Linda Leong, Chief Executive Officer of ADMC. “This programme is about creating a space where residents feel encouraged to take charge of their wellbeing, with accessible health screenings, informative talks and practical training to support healthier lifestyles for themselves and their families.”

Residents received free health screenings designed to encourage proactive steps towards better health, with essential checks offered in a convenient and familiar setting. They had eye tests, blood glucose, uric acid, clinical breast examination and body composition test at no cost, while nurses and trained staff explaining the screening results, address concerns, and recommend suitable follow-up care.

By combining clinical support with educational resources, the programme encouraged individuals to recognize potential health risks early and adopt sustainable lifestyle changes.

The programme was officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Lee Chean Chung, Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya, Ms Linda Leong, CEO of Ara Damansara Medical Centre, YB Tuan Dr Fahmi Ngah, EXCO Agama Islam dan Pembangunan Inovasi Negeri Selangor and State Assemblyman for Seri Setia, Mr Lee Hann, Persatuan Penduduk Ara Impian and Dr Venkateswara Rao, Managing Director of Poliklinik Sri Prima Group.

YB Tuan Lee Chean Chung, expressed his support for community health initiatives and emphasised the importance of such collaboration between healthcare providers and the local community.

This community outreach provided an opportunity to highlight some of the hospital’s key services, including its 24-hour Emergency Department and range of specialist services available. By showcasing these offerings, ADMC sought to help residents feel more at ease to seek medical care when needed. The event also encouraged dialogue between the public and healthcare providers, with doctors, nurses, and allied health staff available throughout the morning to answer questions and share practical health tips.

Mr Lee Hann, Chairman of Ara Impian, expressed his gratitude for the initiative and emphasised the value of bringing healthcare directly to residents. “This gathering truly reflects what Ara Impian stands for – a community that cares, learns, and grows together. The knowledge and skills we gain today will not only help us protect our own health but also enable us to support our neighbours and loved ones. When we come together with a shared purpose, we have the strength to create a healthier, more resilient, and more united community.”

Residents also benefited from an educational session on Breast Self-Examination (BSE), as well as a free breast examination conducted by the trained personnel from Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA). An interactive CPR and choking rescue training session were conducted onsite, where residents learnt vital life-saving skills under the guidance of experienced instructors. Adding to the day’s activities, Kinohimitsu supported the event by setting up a booth to provide free nutrition drink sampling for participants.

This was followed by the Experts on Call series by ADMC, where Dr Hilwani Kaharuddin, Emergency Physician, shared tips on recognizing medical emergencies; Dr Aisyah Zaffan Binti Ahmad Zawawi, Health Screening Doctor, discussed shingles awareness and prevention; Dr Gandhi Nathan Solayar, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Sports & Joints), introduced the latest advancement in robotic knee surgery; Dr Norazah Abdul Rahman, Consultant Ophthalmologist, explained cataract care; and Dr Loh Wai Loong, Consultant Paediatrician, highlighted the importance of childhood vaccination.

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to working hand-in-hand with local communities to promote preventive healthcare,” added Ms Linda Leong. “By bringing essential services closer to residents, we aim to inspire proactive steps in maintaining wellbeing, and to remind everyone that healthcare is not only about treatment, but also about education, prevention, early detection and the strength of community support.”
