Juan Aranols, the chief executive officer of Nestlé (Malaysia) Bhd, revealed in a recent LinkedIn post that from December 2022, all the company’s Maggi Bowls in Malaysia and Singapore will move to sustainably sourced paper bowls. The move will eliminate more than 600 tons of virgin plastic per year.

The company is also using wooden forks to replace the plastic forks in the range, eliminating another 10 million small plastic pieces a year. The wooden forks are FSC certified.

Nestlé (Malaysia) has adopted 100% recycled PET for all its Milo and Nescafe bottled drinks, full elimination of plastic straws from all its UHT ranges and is moving progressively to eco-paper wraps for its ice cream sticks.
