KUALA LUMPUR – 11 September, 2026 – A new take on Japanese street food has arrived in Kuala Lumpur. YAKIGO, a modern yakitori brand built for Malaysia, is officially opening at Ombak KLCC, bringing the vibrant energy of Japanese street food together with flavours made for Malaysian tastes. Located at Lot C1, Urban Eats Concourse Floor, OMBAK KLCC, YAKIGO serves freshly flame-grilled skewers and full meals made with halal-certified ingredients, designed to be quick, convenient, and affordable.
At the heart of YAKIGO is a simple idea: to make Japanese yakitori more accessible to Malaysians. Inspired by the vibrant energy of Tokyo’s street-food stalls, the brand combines Japanese grilling culture with flavours tailored to local preferences. Each skewer is flame-grilled fresh in small batches throughout the day, ensuring quality and consistency with every order. The result is a casual and approachable take on yakitori that brings together bold flavours, quality, convenience, and an inclusive dining experience
Japanese Yakitori, Made for Malaysian Tastes
Making Japanese street food more accessible also means creating an experience that more Malaysians can enjoy. YAKIGO uses halal-compliant ingredients and suppliers, with its central kitchen halal-certified, while keeping its menu simple and approachable.

“As a fan of Japanese yakitori myself, getting a good plate of freshly grilled skewers is always a must whenever I’m in Japan. We wanted to bring that same excitement to Malaysia, while giving it a local touch through flavours that Malaysians know and love. YAKIGO is our way of making that experience accessible, approachable, and enjoyable for everyone, and we’re excited to finally open our doors at Ombak KLCC,” said Matthews Chang, Strategy Officer of YAKIGO.
The opening at Ombak KLCC marks the beginning of YAKIGO’s wider expansion across Malaysia, following the brand’s first outlet at KIPMall Kota Warisan and its presence at Taylor’s University. The brand is set to continue its expansion with upcoming outlets at Coalfields Retail Park on 10 September 2026, before making its way to Seremban R&R in early October 2026.
With more outlets on the horizon, YAKIGO is set to make flame-grilled Japanese-style skewers more accessible to Malaysians – one skewer, one meal, and one delicious moment at a time. For more information, follow @yakigo_jom on social media.
