Thailand’s Chabaa is pushing coconut water into new territory with the recent launch of Chabaa Coco Chocolate Coconut Water, a product that blends coconut water with chocolate flavouring to create a more indulgent take on the category.
The concept reflects a trend that has gained traction in markets such as Australia, where coconut water is increasingly being used as a foundation for flavour innovation. Brands have introduced coconut water variants combined with coffee, chocolate, tropical fruits, desserts and other ingredients/flavours, moving the category beyond plain coconut water and positioning it as a versatile beverage platform. In these cases, coconut water serves not only as a hydration drink but also as a lighter base for flavour experimentation.
Whether chocolate-flavoured coconut water will resonate with Thai consumers remains to be seen. The launch demonstrates Chabaa’s willingness to innovate beyond conventional flavour boundaries.
