- Second edition expects to attract 600 players as participation and prize money grow
- SCORE elevates tournament structure and expands beyond competition with added wellness and community elements
SUBANG JAYA, 29 April: Pickleball’s growing momentum in Malaysia is set to take another step forward, with the AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship returning for its second edition from June 19–21 2026.
The tournament is targeting 600 participants this year, up from 500 in its inaugural edition, while also increasing its total prize pool from RM50,000 to RM66,000 — signalling a clear step up in both scale and competitiveness.
Staged at PLAYA Racquet Club @ PARC Subang, the championship continues to position itself as one of prominent tournaments on the local calendar.
Organised by Score Sports Management (SCORE) and powered by title sponsor AmBank Group, the championship reflects a shared push to elevate the sport beyond its recreational roots into a more structured and competitive space.
The three-day tournament is expected to feature a strong and diverse field across Novice, Intermediate and Open categories, comprising men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles events.
Designed to balance inclusivity with competitiveness, the tournament will adopt a group stage followed by knockout rounds, ensuring players gain meaningful match exposure within a structured format.
The Open category is expected to feature the strongest field, reflecting the growing depth of talent as more players transition into higher levels of competition.
“We’re seeing real momentum in pickleball, and the next step is to raise the standards of competition and overall experience,” said Patricia Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Score Sports Management.
“This championship is about creating a platform where players can compete seriously, while keeping the sport accessible and inclusive.”
AmBank’s continued involvement reflects its commitment to supporting sporting initiatives that promote active lifestyles and community engagement.
“As pickleball rapidly evolves from a recreational hobby to a competitive sport, AmBank Group is pleased to be at the leading edge supporting this momentum. Through SCORE, which brings together some of the sport’s top players, the event also offers our clients and communities to experience the energy of pickleball up close while contributing to the development of the sport locally,” said Shazman Shahid, Head of Group Corporate Communications and Marketing, AmBank Group.
The expansion also goes beyond competition, with organisers broadening the event’s scope to include sport, fitness and wellness elements through collaborations with TogetHER and Together-Gather.
These additions introduce activities such as workshops, fitness sessions and wellness-focused vendors, creating a more holistic event experience around the championship.
In line with a growing emphasis on responsible event management, sustainability initiatives will also be incorporated, with trophies produced in collaboration with Natureloop using recycled plastic and repurposed timber, alongside pickleball-themed charms made from reused materials.
The championship is supported by partners including Franklin (Official Tournament Ball), Sports Sync Asia (Official Registration Platform), Karta (Official Coconut Water), ALIR (Official Mineral Water), and PLAYA Racquet Club (Official Venue).
