Cold Storage private label cheese makes debut

Cold Storage, the upscale supermarket chain of Singapore-listed Dairy Farm International, has recently made available Southdale Farm Sliced Cheese in Malaysia. The two varieties are reduced fat and high calcium. What is interesting about this sliced cheese range is they are manufactured under the commission of DFI Brands Ltd of S/F Devon House, a tell-tale sign that it is a private label. Southdale Farm is likely to be the first supermarket own brand sliced cheese in Malaysia. Not even Tesco has such cheese product even though it has yogurt and milk under the Tesco own label range.

Price wise, the Australia-made Southdale Farm is the cheapest, another sign that it is a private label product. Southdale Farm is cheaper by 25% compared to the cheapest branded cheese Bega.
