Mont Blanc is one of Indonesia’s most talked-about coffee trends, making a noticeable impact on the country’s specialty coffee scene. Originally created and popularised by Melbourne café Good Measure in 2022, the drink features a cold coffee base topped with a thick layer of cream, orange zest and nutmeg, creating the visual impression of the snow-capped Mont Blanc mountain.
The concept has resonated with Indonesian consumers, who generally enjoy coffee with a touch of sweetness and creaminess. Beyond its approachable flavour profile, Mont Blanc’s striking presentation and indulgent character make it highly Instagrammable while delivering a premium café experience.
We had the opportunity to try Mont Blanc-inspired creations at Suji Experience Bar in Bandung. The café’s Orange Blanc (IDR35,000) combines creamy coffee with bright citrus notes and a finishing of fresh orange zest for an aromatic lift. Another option, Berry Blanc, pairs smooth, creamy coffee with sweet strawberry notes and is topped with half a fresh strawberry for a fruity finish.

More than just a café, Suji Experience Bar also serves as a showcase for Suji Premium Handcrafted, a local business specialising in handcrafted coffee brewing equipment. The venue functions as a specialty coffee bar, coffee experience space, showroom for brewing equipment, and retail outlet for coffee tools and merchandise, reflecting the growing convergence of specialty coffee culture and coffee craftsmanship in Indonesia.

We also had the chance to try Goffee Exquise‘s Reverse Mont Blanc, a signature beverage created in collaboration with Arummi Foods and World Barista Champion Mikael Jasin. While a traditional Mont Blanc features a dark coffee base topped with a thick cream layer, a Reverse Mont Blanc flips the concept.

The creamy, milk-based component forms the base, while the coffee element is layered on top, creating a different visual presentation and drinking experience while retaining the contrast between rich creaminess and aromatic coffee. The format showcases how cafés are putting their own spin on the trend, turning Mont Blanc from a single drink into a platform for coffee innovation.
