Best Buy International Expands Imports with Moby Money’s B2B Financing Solution

Petaling Jaya, 22 December 2025 – Moby Money Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian fintech specialising in B2B and SME financing, is proud to announce its successful collaboration with Best Buy International Sdn. Bhd., a leading local importer of food and beverage products from the Middle East. Through this partnership, Moby’s cashflow-based flexible financing has enabled Best Buy International to expand its product portfolio, strengthen supplier relationships, and achieve sustainable growth; all while overcoming the barriers often faced with traditional bank loans.

Roland Low, Director of Best Buy International, shared his experience: “It’s very difficult to deal with banks—the process takes much longer, and there are restrictions, such as the age of the director. I’m already above 70, so it has become a little difficult. Moby Money comes in very handy. No fuss. As long as the business is viable and profitable, we have no issue working with Moby to fund our purchases.”

With Moby’s support, Best Buy International has:

  • Continued importing food and beverage products from Azerbaijan and Turkey, while
carefully managing demand and working capital.
  • Maintained disciplined cash flow by aligning each shipment with confirmed
    customer demand.
  • Paid suppliers promptly, resulting in faster delivery timelines and stronger supplier
    trust.

Roland added: “Suppliers are happy to know that we can now make more purchases and, because Moby funds us, we’re able to pay them promptly. As a result, goods are delivered on time.”

Rian Phillip, CEO of Moby Money Sdn. Bhd., commented on the collaboration: “Our mission at Moby is to put merchants first by removing the barriers that often prevent good businesses from accessing the financing they need. Many established merchants are profitable and well‑run, yet remain underserved by traditional funding models. Best Buy International’s journey shows how flexible, merchant‑centric financing can help businesses expand responsibly, strengthen supplier relationships, and serve their customers with confidence. As a Malaysian fintech, we understand these challenges firsthand, and we are proud to support merchants navigating today’s competitive market.”

SAFI Strengthens Its Commitment To Women’s Education With RM1 Million Biasiswa Siswi Scholarships

(Back Row - From Left to Right) : Yang Berusaha Puan Kazlina Mohd Kassim, Pakar Jenama & Tinjauan Maklumat Safi, Yang Berusaha En Zulkifli bin Che Hussin, Pengurus (Kolaborasi & Strategik) Yayasan Perkasa Siswa, Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi & Puan Rozaina Mahmod, Pengurus Korporat Dan Kawal Selia Safi

Second year of SAFI’s initiative supports 25 outstanding female students in their pursuit of education and leadership

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 December 2025 – SAFI, Malaysia’s No.1 halal beauty brand, announced the recipients of its second annual Biasiswa Siswi SAFI Scholarship Programme, distributing up to RM1,000,000* in educational funding to 25 exceptional Malaysian female students. Each recipient is set to receive financial support of up to RM40,000* to pursue higher education at public universities (IPTA).

The programme was established with the understanding that countless talented Malaysian women face significant barriers including financial constraints, family responsibilities, and societal expectations that could interfere with their academic aspirations. Through the Biasiswa Siswi SAFI Scholarship Programme, SAFI reaffirms its commitment in ensuring that deserving students are not held back from pursuing their educational goals. This year’s programme received over 20,700 applications—approximately 21 times more than the previous year—underscoring the substantial and growing need for educational support among Malaysian women.

“SAFI believes that true beauty extends beyond what meets the eye – it emerges from confidence, knowledge, and the opportunities that shape a woman’s future. We are dedicated to women’s development because we’ve seen time and time again that when a woman is empowered with opportunity, she doesn’t merely transform her own life. She uplifts her entire family and community,” said Kazlina Mohd Kassim, SAFI Brands and Insights Specialist. “Seeing these young women achieve their dreams makes every effort worthwhile. The Biasiswa Siswi SAFI Scholarship is about more than providing financial assistance, it’s about investing in potential and creating pathways where none existed before. Each of these 25 recipients has shown extraordinary resilience and ambition. They’ve proven they have what it takes to succeed, and we are proud to stand beside them as they write the next chapter of their stories.”

Following the programme’s launch in March 2025 through SAFI’s emotionally resonant Raya film, thousands of applications were received from eligible Malaysian female students aged 18 to 25 with a minimum CGPA of 3.0. Initial applications were thoroughly reviewed for eligibility and alignment with SAFI’s mission to empower and inspire young women. Shortlisted candidates were then invited to submit self-introduction videos elaborating on their motivations, aspirations, and why they deserved this scholarship. The top 40 finalists then participated in a comprehensive online bootcamp designed to evaluate personality, communication skills, leadership qualities, resourcefulness, and critical thinking. From this exceptional group, 25 outstanding scholars were selected as this year’s recipients. Today, SAFI is not merely announcing scholarship awardees, but celebrating the realisation of 25 young Malaysian women’s aspirations—reflecting the brand’s commitment to giving back to the community that has trusted SAFI as Malaysia’s No. 1 halal beauty brand for over 35 years, by reinvesting in the future of the next generation of women.

This year’s recipients are:

I am determined to make the most of this incredible opportunity.”

What distinguishes the Biasiswa Siswi SAFI Scholarship Programme is its holistic and student-centric approach to empowerment. Unlike student loans, the scholarship does not require repayment, ensuring recipients graduate without financial burden or long-term stress. Scholars are also not contractually bound to SAFI after graduation; instead, they are supported through value-added career development opportunities such as internships and priority consideration for SAFI’s Management Trainee Programme—allowing them to focus fully on building their futures with confidence and independence.

To maximise reach and accessibility, SAFI conducted extensive on-ground engagement throughout April and May 2025 with two-day roadshows at five major universities and single-day activations at 15 additional campuses spanning from the Klang Valley to Perlis and Sabah. The outreach initiative culminated in the SAFI Raya Roadshow, further amplifying programme awareness amongst prospective applicants.

“The response has been extraordinary and deeply moving,” added Kazlina. “Every application represents young women with aspirations, challenges, and admirable ambition. Whilst we could only award 25 recipients this year, we are committed to expanding our impact and reaching even more deserving students in the years ahead.

First-ever Malaysia-China collaboration in functional medicine to treat non-communicable diseases

First Malaysia-China Nutritional & Functional Medicine (NFM) collaboration

GUANGZHOU, Monday, 22 December 2025 – RENN Asia Wellness, a home-grown brand focussing on Nutritional and Functional Medicine (NFM), is pioneering Malaysia-China cooperation in this field with the opening of a centre here last Friday, 19 December, attended by representatives from both countries.

Kuala Lumpur-based RENN Asia will extend its expertise to China in collaboration with Jian Shi Tang (JST) of Guangzhou to operate a first-of-its-kind wellness centre at the prestigious Leatop Plaza in Tianhe District of Guangzhou and adopting its Malaysian-developed NFM clinical framework.

Under a collaboration agreement signed on Friday between RENN Asia founder and CEO Jonathan Chew and JST founder Zhang Chu Guang, RENN Asia will provide JST with clinical expertise, programme design, and operational protocols.

The ceremony was witnessed by Prof. Dato’ Sri Steve Yap, President of the Association of Nutritional and Functional Medicine Practitioners Malaysia (ANFMP), leading Guangzhou academicians, the local medical fraternity and invited guests from the Malaysian community in Guangzhou.

Jonathan Chew presenting souvenirs to Puan Farhana Kamaruddin at Jianshitang Wellness Centre in Guangzhou.

Trade Commissioner of Matrade Guangzhou, Puan Farhana Kamaruddin, attended the ceremony and reception as a supportive guest to reflect Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in the health and wellness sector.

This collaboration places Malaysia among the first in the region to export a full chronic-disease management model to China, starting with diabetes care.

China is grappling with one of the world’s largest diabetes epidemics, estimated at more than 140 million adults. Rising complications and healthcare expenditures have accelerated the search for preventive and functional medicine solutions capable of reducing long-term disease progression.

Despite strong national efforts, persistent gaps remain in preventive and functional care models, particularly those that integrate nutrition, root-cause investigation, lifestyle medicine, personalised diagnostics, and long-term monitoring. The introduction of a Malaysian-developed NFM framework is seen as a strategic complement to China’s evolving healthcare reforms.

The Malaysian-led NFM initiative offers a structured, root-cause focused alternative. Rather than merely managing symptoms, NFM emphasises personalised assessment, lifestyle and nutrition intervention, metabolic optimisation and preventive care. By doing so, it aims to stabilise or even reverse elements of metabolic dysfunction, a critically needed tool in China’s fight against chronic disease.

Chew said the presence of Prof Dato’ Sri Steve Yap as the doyen of NFM in Malaysia has reinforced the professional and scientific credibility of the NFM framework and signalled confidence that it could be scaled up regionally.

To this, Yap added: “One of the world’s largest healthcare markets is now adopting a homegrown Malaysian NFM framework. This is a significant milestone for Malaysia as it shows Malaysians could export its know-how and solutions to benefit other countries.”

RENN Asia will supply not only the NFM protocols and programme design but also experienced Malaysian practitioners as advisers for the initial launch phase. This approach ensures that the first centre accurately reflects the rigorous standards and holistic philosophy developed in Malaysia through years of clinical experience.

“Bringing a Malaysian-refined NFM framework into China shows that we can be a provider of practical healthcare solutions to other nations,” Chew said.

“Our role is not only to export knowledge, but to support JST in building a system that can sustainably transform community health outcomes in Guangzhou and eventually across China,” he added.

For JST, the partnership represents a strategic opportunity to lead the transformation of chronic disease management in Guangzhou.

“For JST, we see tremendous potential in RENN Asia’s NFM framework. Its emphasis on personalised assessment and root-cause intervention aligns with the future direction of healthcare in China,” said JST lead medical practitioner Dr Dai Qi Ming.

“Starting with diabetes, we aim to demonstrate measurable improvements in client health and quality of life,” he added.

Both organisations plan to scale the partnership to other chronic conditions once the diabetes programme demonstrates stable outcomes. Future expansion areas include cardiovascular disease, liver and metabolic disorders, hormonal imbalances, and allergy-related conditions — all of which contribute significantly to China’s rising chronic disease burden.

The joint initiative aims to generate long-term impact by reducing avoidable complications, lowering treatment costs, and improving clients’ independence and quality of life. Through this collaboration, Malaysia’s contribution extends beyond clinical expertise to knowledge export, professional capacity building, and regional health innovation.
