Kobe Boga Utama launches MSG-free fried noodle Kobe Jiwa Pagi

PT Kobe Boga Utama has launched a healthy instant noodle that is free from MSG. The new Kobe Jiwa Pagi is Kobe Boga Utama’s take on the trending healthy instant noodle category, which has seen a flurry of launches in Indonesia in recent years.

The new Kobe Jiwa Pagi is a fried noodle with vegetables and is a source of vitamin B2, B2 and zinc. The air dried noodle is certified as a Healthier Choice by the Indonesian government.

Kobe Jiwa Pagi targets MSG-wary and health-conscious consumers but still want the familiar taste and format.

Lee Wee & Brothers, a local household brand in Singapore synonymous with quality otah, has collaborate with Quorn to unveil Singapore’s very own halal meat-free nasi lemak & otah. It is about time we have a meat-free nasi lemak and Lee Wee & Brothers has taken on the challenge to introduce otah and nasi lemak with a meat-free twist. Both newly-launched products are made from mycoprotein.

Nasi Lemak Kosong contains meat-free sambal chilli, meat-free luncheon meat, meat-free chicken bites and Otah Kosong, described as the first meat-free otah.

Otak-otak or otah is a Southeast Asian fish cake made of ground fish mixed with spices and wrapped in leaf parcels.

The latest innovation by Lee Wee & Brothers is another demonstration of the appraoch of popularising meat-free using popular local dishes.

Quick commerce start-up Astro unveils new private label range

Astro is a quick commerce start-up platform in Indonesia that provides groceries and essentials in 15 minutes has launched a range of private label food and drink products, reported Kabar Tangsel.

The new Astro private label range is a collaboration with local farmers to empower them by giving them access to new markets. The products include Iced Black Coffee, Iced White Coffee, Milky Aren, Fresh Taro and Mango Tango as well as cakes and buns.

The Iced Black Coffee uses 100% Arabica coffee from Flores, while the Iced White Coffee uses 100% Arabica coffee from Aceh.

Frozen yogurt chain Sour Sally joins the metaverse

Sour Sally Group, known for its non-fat frozen yogurt, has collaborated with AR/VR technology company PT WIR Asia Tbk to enter into the metaverse, reported Antara News. The MoU was signed by the two parties on 13 April 2022. Having a presence on the metaverse will allow Sour Sally not only to connect with local consumers across Indonesia but also make the brand name known globally.

In Southeast Asia, Thai companies are the most active in metaverse and we see other players in the region are also jumping into the new marketing platform to deliver an immersive brand experience to the next generation of consumers.

Vitasoy Philippines positioned to ride the return of on-the-go consumption

Vitasoy Philippines has set itself ready to capture the return of on-the-go consumption in the Philippines especially during the summer months with the recent launch of RTD Vitasoy Plus Milky Vanilla.

The Hong Kong-based parent said in its interim 2021/22 report that “the sustained lockdowns hindered growth in the on-the-go category [in the Philippines], whilst our home consumption offering has continued to grow steadily.”

The new RTD Vitasoy Plus Milky Vanilla comes in a 300ml plastic bottle packaging with a SRP of PHP 27.

Wings Food has up the ante on RTD coffee with the launch of GOLDA Cappuccino, which is said to be brewed using the Gold Italian Roast method. The new on-the-go coffee is suitable for consumption at home or outside of home, which is returning following the easing of COVID-19 restriction.

The launch of the latest RTD coffee (200ml) that offers a rich cappuccino taste and an affordable price of only IDR 3,000 per bottle is set to further intensify competition in the RTD coffee category.

GOLDA Cappuccino is made from Belgian milk and fresh roasted Brazilian coffee beans.

KFC brings grilled chicken to Indonesia

KFC Indonesia has launched Rosemary Butter Grilled Chicken, which offers Indonesian consumers a new way to enjoy chicken. Rather than having the familiar KFC fried chicken, the latest menu item comes in the form of a grilled chicken.

KFC introduced grilled chicken in the US in 2008 and has since made available grilled chicken in other markets including in Australia (2009) and Singapore (2018).
