Pos Malaysia Celebrates World Post Day 2024: Reinforcing A Commitment to Delivering Connections, Improving Lives

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 October 2024 – Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia”), the national post and parcel service provider, today joined postal services around the globe to commemorate World Post Day.

Observed each year on 9 October, this important day celebrates the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) while bringing awareness to the role the postal sector plays in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the world’s social and economic development.

The theme for this year’s World Post Day, “150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations”, took centre stage at the local celebration held at Pos Malaysia’s headquarters in Dayabumi Complex earlier today.

Graced by YB Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications, and YB Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Communications, the event spotlighted Pos Malaysia’s new short film which showcased the Company’s remarkable transformation story over the past two centuries to become more than just a post office for the rakyat today, and its steadfast commitment to delivering connections and improving lives. The two-minute short film drew thunderous applause from the audience at the end of its screening.

Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of Pos Malaysia, said: “This short film not only pays homage to Pos Malaysia’s rich and long-standing heritage in the country but more importantly it signifies our commitment to continuously meeting the changing needs of the people of Malaysia in this digital age. Today, Pos Malaysia no longer just delivers mail and parcels; we now offer a variety of innovative products and services, ranging from end-to-end logistics, and aviation (ground handling), to retail and digital solutions. We have come a long way in our purpose of connecting people and businesses for a better tomorrow.”

YB Fahmi Fadzil echoed Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar’s sentiment: “Even as we stand at a crossroads between tradition and innovation, Pos Malaysia continues to be a backbone of our country’s trade and economic development. As we come together to celebrate World Post Day, let’s be reminded that postal service is more than just a system to deliver mail and parcels. It represents a critical infrastructure that supports economic growth, facilitates trade, and connects the communities. He commended Pos Malaysia on its continuous strive for service excellence. Pos Laju successfully attained a 4-star rating from the MyKurier programme and was crowned the fastest and most reliable courier service provider by the MCMC Star Rating Awards 2023.

“So, to everyone in Pos Malaysia – from the Abang Pos who are out on duty come rain or shine, to the staff at the sorting centre, back office, and service counters – we appreciate your dedication. You are the unsung heroes who play a vital role in keeping our nation connected,” YB Fahmi added.

The Minister later presented long service awards to sixteen (16) Pos Malaysia employees who have been with the Company for 35 years and above.

During the event, Pos Malaysia also unveiled a set of specially designed commemorative stamps launched in conjunction with World Post Day. Priced at RM50.50 each, this limited edition set – which comes in a folder consisting of a stamp sheet, a miniature sheet, a First Day Cover envelope with a stamp, and a First Day Cover envelope with a miniature sheet – is available at all Pos Malaysia’s Philatelic Bureaus, including 13 General Post Offices nationwide, and online at https://shop.pos.com.my while stocks last.

The celebration concluded with YB Fahmi, YB Teo, and special guests flagging off Pos Malaysia’s latest batch of electric vehicles (EVs), underscoring the organisation’s commitment to delivering a greener future. More than 1,000 electric bikes and over 300 electric vans are scheduled to join its already impressive EV fleet in the coming months.

“As a progressive organisation in championing sustainability for both Malaysia and the logistics sector, we are proud of the progress we have made thus far in our sustainability roadmap launched last year. Currently, Pos Malaysia has 200 electric motorcycles and 143 electric vans, which have covered a distance of 2.8 million kilometres, equivalent to 71 times around the Earth. Central to our path to Net Zero is the transition to EVs, where we now have the largest EV fleet in Malaysia’s logistics sector. Our growing number of EVs is a testament to our ongoing focus to reduce emissions generated by vehicles and ultimately achieve 100% first and last-mile green delivery by 2030,” said Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar.

Pos Malaysia is slated to kick off the promotion of its new brand film from 9 October on various touchpoints including social media and digital billboards. This is followed by a series of exciting activities that will be held at the post offices, with limited edition merchandise up for grabs for customers who make transactions at any of the post offices from 16 October until 31 December 2024.

One-stop healthcare hub set to boost health tourism in Johor

JOHOR BAHRU, 10 October 2024 – Regency Specialist Hospital (RSH) proudly introduces the newly opened Regency Medical Care Centre (RMCC), strategically located in The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey. As Malaysia moves toward achieving its goal of becoming a premier global healthcare destination by 2025, the medical tourism sector is poised to generate an estimated annual revenue of RM2 billion in that year.[i] Aligned with this, the upcoming Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, expected to be finalized during the 11th Singapore-Malaysia Leaders’ Retreat, will further strengthen healthcare collaboration and enhance medical tourism across borders.[ii]

Speaking at the launch, Ms Serena Yong, Chief Executive Officer of Regency Specialist Hospital, outlined RMCC’s commitment to becoming a leading healthcare hub for patients from all walks of life, both domestically and internationally. “What truly sets RMCC apart is our focus on early detection, preventive care and overall health management. Thailand’s First! ‘Five Star’ Embraces FSC-Certified Packaging, Pioneering Sustainable Franchise Model

Tuesday 08 October 2024 – Five Star, a leading food franchise in Thailand, has become the country’s first to introduce eco-friendly packaging certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) standard.
