Beyond the Christmas installations, visitors to the mall can also look forward to live performances, live art customisation and meet and greet sessions with several notable local artists, as well as exciting mall promotions during the campaign period. 

Marine Christmas installations at the Level 2 Outdoor Space 

Wisma Atria puts young creatives centre stage this holiday season with the mall’s first-ever collaboration with the Faculty of Design at LASALLE College of the Arts. Through an open call, students from LASALLE were invited to create Christmas installations inspired by an enchanting underwater world – a nod to the former Wisma Atria Aquarium and the childhood memories and spontaneous connections that were invoked in its visitors. The top seven submissions were selected to be part of this year’s festive decor at Wisma Atria.

Winning the first prize, Bae Kyungsoo from LASALLE College of the Arts showed her attentiveness to the cultural and emotional context of the public through her thorough research on people’s emotional experiences during the Christmas season. Her core motive for her work was to deliver joy and create a piece that would encourage conversations and a sense of togetherness during the holiday season. For her design, she tapped on nostalgic elements of the Old Wisma Atria Aquarium through vibrant coral structures, and by weaving in traditional symbols of good fortune. The result is a visually captivating work that evokes heartfelt memories and feelings of peace, happiness and love.

A Jolly Christmas at the Level 1 Indoor Atrium 

Local fashion meets collectible art toys at the Christmas pop-up at the Level 1 Indoor Atrium from 16 November to 26 December. Curated by AMOS ANANDA, visitors can shop for exclusive limited-edition collectible figurines and merchandise by AMOS AND FRIENDS, designed in collaboration with the character IPs of several local artists such as LESDOUBLEWOOD, the force behind the popular Jelilo figurines; YANG OVO, creator of the exquisite Winter Garden paper sculptures sold in the Museum of Modern Art in New York; and SAPIEN TOY STUDIO, who seeks to use his imaginary misfit monsters to spread kindness. 

These merchandise will be available for sale at the pop-up space at the Level 1 Indoor Atrium. The space will also feature Christmas-themed festive decor designed by AMOS ANANDA and the participating artists, promising a feast for the eyes. 

Exclusively for the holidays, shoppers will also witness firsthand an exhibit of AMOS ANANDA’s upcoming porcelain collection, featuring singularly unique porcelain figurines and a stunning incense burner that is sure to add the finishing touch to any space.

Tiger Chinese Education Charity Concert Breaks Record at SMJK Chan Wa, Seremban with RM 9.4 Million Funds Raised

RM407 million raised since 1994, bringing communities together for education.

Kuala Lumpur, 23 November 2023 – HEINEKEN Malaysia has concluded its annual Tiger Chinese Education Charity Concert (Tiger CECC) program with record-breaking success. The social impact program raised RM26,354,318.50 through eight institutions, the highest amount recorded in a year since the inception of Tiger CECC in 1994. The funds raised also doubled its initial 2023 target of RM12 million. With overwhelming response and generosity from the concert attendees, Tiger CECC was able to support in upgrading seven schools and contribute to UTAR Hospital’s overall development, benefitting local communities across Malaysia.

The eight-show series made an impact in institutions across Malaysia including Nan Hwa High School, SJKC Chio Min A&B, SJKC Mentakab (2), SJKC Damansara, SJKC Yu Ming, SMJK Chan Wa, and SJKC Kheng Chee. For the first time this year, the programme also extended its support beyond schools to UTAR Hospital in Kampar, contributing to its development while benefiting both the local communities and medical students.

Since its inception, Tiger CECC has been growing with local communities for numerous generations. The programme funded more than 540ocal schools for almost 30 years through charity concerts, organised alongside its media partner. From 1994 till today, the programme has successfully raised more than RM407 million, making a lasting impact on thousands of students and playing a role in the nation’s educational foundation.

The top Tiger CECC performers such as Freddie and the Catz, Chris Cheong, Wu Jia Hui, Yee Yee, Victor Lee, Z Yan, Zac Chi Chiang, Jyin, and Victor Lee maintained their vibrant energy across all eight shows. In the months leading up to the shows, Freddie and the Catz, in particular, also conducted talks on parent-child relationships to promote holistic child development as well as to raise awareness for the fundraising cause. Together, all performers contributed significantly to the program’s success from start to finish.

Among all the concerts, an exceptional highlight was SMJK Chan Wa’s achievement of raising RM9.37 million, surpassing the initial RM5 million target. This accomplishment marks a record-breaking amount of funds raised by an individual school in the history of Tiger CECC. Dato’ Oh Kok Khim, Chairman of School Governors Board, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Tiger Chinese Education Charity Concert has brought about meaningful change to our school. Through this collaboration, we are empowered to provide a more enriching educational experience while fostering the potential of our students.”

Over the years, Tiger CECC has continued to be a beacon of hope and inspiration, demonstrating the power of collaboration in making a difference in local education. As the social impact programme concludes this year, stay tuned as Tiger CECC is set to return next year to unite communities once again.

November 22, 2023 Singapore – The RAS Epicurean Star Award 2023 was presented this evening as a grand tribute to Singapore’s hardworking and talented workforce in the F&B industry. 164 F&B establishments were nominated across 22 categories this year, marking the largest number of submissions by nominees since the Award was first incepted. A total of 44 awards were presented at the gala dinner event.

The RAS Epicurean Star Award is a highly anticipated celebration of achievements by brands, individuals, and establishments in Singapore’s F&B industry calendar. This annual prestigious event has been devoted to recognising strong, innovative and exciting F&B brands and concepts. 

The RAS Epicurean Star Award also celebrates talents and honours the indomitable spirit of the F&B industry – the service staff, restaurateurs, chefs, and many more who braved the adversities and challenges the industry faces.  

The restaurant and F&B industry continue to witness the emergence of new dining trends and preferences from the new generation of diners – ranging from the increased demand for healthier dining options, a focus on sustainability in terms of plant-based ingredients and eco-friendly foods, and an increased spotlight on the farm-to-table offerings in restaurants. 

The industry also noted that diners are increasingly interested in understanding the origins of their food and ingredients. To acknowledge this trend, the Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS introduced a brand-new category at the RAS Epicurean Star Award 2023 – the ‘Best Farm-To-Table Restaurant’ category.

The new category recognises the Award’s distinguished nominees who have embraced ethical sourcing and sustainable practices, positively impacting Singapore’s culinary scene and the environment. The limelight on the new category also resonates with the launch of the Farm-to-Table in March this year in a national drive to recognise F&B establishments that adopt sustainable practices by procuring locally farmed produce.

Last year, RAS collaborated with Workforce Singapore (WSG) to introduce the Workforce Resilience Award, which recognised food service companies that reinvented themselves and retained their workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic through the Career Conversation Programme (CCP). This year, WSG partnered with RAS again to present the WSG Workforce Transformation Award, a dedicated category recognising companies that have transformed their workforce through job redesign and reskilling.

The WSG Workforce Transformation Awards confers a distinction to the top adopters from the SME & Non-SME category with the highest number of reskilled workers. The award aims to motivate the industry to embark on workforce transformation. Additionally, companies that have onboarded CCP for Food Professional & Associate (CCP-FPA) were acknowledged at the event.
