Swensen’s offers a new twist to bingsu dessert

Swensen’s Thailand is offering the unique Ramyun Bingsu dessert to bring consumers on a culinary tour to South Korea. The Ramyun Bingsu features topokki, corn, seaweed,  gochujang sauce and powdered cheese to mimic the ramyun experience but with a bingu twist.

 

Sappe, Workpoint launch viral Kru Pensri Candy

Functional drink maker Sappe and Thai media company Workpoint Entertainment have launched a buzz worthy chewy candy featuring the famous Thai actress and comedian Sudarat Butrprom.

Known for her role as teacher Pensri (Kru Pensri) who teaches Thai twisted English, her exagerrated facial expression now graces the new chewy candy in spicy and sour flavours.

The products are called Krupensri Spicy Maxx Candy (Salty Chili Guava Flavour) and Krupensri Sour Maxx Candy (Salty Chili Tamarind Flavour).

The funny face have sparked an online frenzy by consumers trying to imitate her expression and sharing them on social media. This reminded us of Lay’s Smile Campaign launched in 2015 to invite “Thais to smile with the deliciousness of Lay’s”. The campaign featured 27 different designs.

The new candy is a move by Sappe to extend into the chewy candy segment. The Kru Pensri Candy is priced at THB 20 and is available at 7-Eleven outlets in Thailand.

Bar-B-Q Plaza and Jack ‘n Jill launch Roller Coaster with barbeque flavour

Bar-B-Q Plaza has joined force with Jack ‘n Jill to launch Roller Coaster featuring the authentic Bar-B-Q Plaza’s barbeque flavour. Now you can enjoy the aroma of roasting meat on a brass pan anywhere and anytime. It is said to offer the same taste as eating in the restaurant.

Food Passion, which operates Bar-B-Q Plaza, reported a 25.5% contraction in total revenue to THB 2.9 billion in 2020 resulting in the deepening of net loss to THB 187.51 million, down 25.67%. Net profit in 2019 fell 21.73% year-on-year (down 18.5% in 2018).

The delivery business made up 15% of the company’s total sales in 2020. This figure is set to reach 30% in 2021.

Collaborating with various partners and licensing are strategies to mitigated the fall in revenue.

Jack ‘n Jill Tivoli upgrades its texture by co-branding with Ovaltine

Lay’s Thailand brings you to Korea and the US

Lay’s Thailand is focusing on transportive flavour with the release of the Korean-inspired Korean Cream Cheese Garlic potato chips. This follows the recent launch of the US-inspired Cheese Burger.

The PepsiCo’s snack brand has also made available Lay’s Stax Prik Pao Mun Kung Potato Chips in a canister.

Diamond Grains combines bubble tea with granola

Thai’s passion for bubble tea is unabated and this is reflected in the recent launch by Diamond Grains of its latest Granola Bubble Tea. What makes this new limited edition innovation interesting is the Granola Bubble Tea comes with boba or pearls made from konjac (0 calories).

Diamond Grains Granola Bubble Tea (48g) is priced at THB 32 and is available at 7-Eleven from 1 July 2021 to 30 September 2021 or while stocks last.

 

Bar-B-Q Plaza collaborates with TGM for grilled set to target in-home dining

Bar-B-Q Plaza has teamed up with Thai German Meat Product (TGM) to target more in-home occasions. This comes as foodservice is impacted as the country is struggling to contain the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

The new grilled set features TCM’s bacon and sausage (German bacon, smoked bacon, farmer bacon and Arabiki sausage) together with Bar B Q Plaza’s famous barbeque sauce. The price is THB 235 and is available at supermarkets.

Bar-B-Q Plaza has earlier partnered with Betagro to launch pork products for in-home consumption.
