New Tiger Soju-Infused Lager has an alcohol content of 5.5%

Heineken has launched Tiger Soju-Infused Lager in Singapore. The new soju-infused lager is Heineken’s take on the South Korean somaek drink, which is a blend of soju and beer.

Tiger Soju-Infused Lager is available in Gutsy Grape and Cheeky Plum flavours. The alcohol content is 5.5%.

Tiger Soju-Infused Lager offers drinkers with a lower alcohol alternative to flavoured soju, which usually has an average alcohol content of 12-14%. Heineken’s latest soju-infused lager has strong potential to ride the current popularity of flavoured soju.

Solo mountaineer T. Ravichandran a.k.a. Ravi Everest takes on double-summit feat

Putrajaya, 21 March 2023 – Scaling the world’s highest mountains may seem daunting to many but for experienced mountaineer Ravichandran Tharumalingam, known to many Malaysians as Ravi Everest, nothing is impossible. Having scaled Mount Everest thrice, Ravi dreams to conquer the 14 highest mountain peaks in the world, all with an altitude of over 8,000 meters, in four years.

The challenge begins this year with the ‘Himalaya Sports Everest-Lhotse Expedition 2023’ which will see the 58-year-old Ravi scaling the world’s first and fourth highest mountains standing at an altitude of 8,848m and 8,516m respectively.

The expedition is scheduled to begin in April at the Mount Everest basecamp with a month-long preparation before the actual 5-day trek which will see his back-to-back ascent of Everest and Lhotse sometime in May.

“Many mountaineers dream to complete this ambitious double-summit feat and I have set this new challenge for myself as part of my goal to climb fourteen highest peaks in less than four years. This back-to-back ascent will make my fourth expedition to Mount Everest more difficult than my previous climbs but it reflects my life’s motto – challenge your summit – which calls on us to constantly raise our bar so that we can achieve our very best,” said Ravi who also lost eight fingers as a result of frostbites from his first solo expedition to Mount Everest but did not let that disability get in the way of continuing his passion for mountaineering.

Ravi holds two Malaysia Book of Records as the nation’s first solo climber to conquer Mount Everest in 2006 and again in 2022 when he conquered K2, the second highest peak in the world. Both times, the proud Malaysian displayed the Jalur Gemilang at the top of the world and he hopes to be able to bring glory to the nation by planting the Malaysian flag on all 14 peaks and being the first South East Asian to do so.’

The ‘Himalaya Sports Everest-Lhotse Expedition 2023’ was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Adam Adli, today where main sponsor Himalaya Sports also presented Ravi with RM100,000 in support of the expedition.

In descending order, they are Mount Everest, Godwin Austen (K2), Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri I, Manaslu, Nanga Parbat, Annapurna I, Gasherbrum I (K5), Broad Peak (K3), Casherbrum II (K4) and Shishapangma.

Devdas – The Musical makes its World Premiere in Singapore’s Esplanade Theatre

Showing in Singapore for one weekend starting on 21 April, ‘Devdas – The Musical’ — a Broadway-style rendition of the timeless Indian love saga — will pull at the heartstrings with its opulent sets, soul-stirring melodies, stunning dance sequences and poignant performances

Singapore, 27 March 2023 – Theatre enthusiasts in Singapore are in for a dazzling treat, as Devdas – The Musical makes its world premiere on 21 April at the Esplanade Theatre. Inspired by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic novella of the same name, India’s leading live theatre producer AGP World, along with Arte Compass and Zee TV APAC, brings one of the most famous love sagas in Indian literature to life in Singapore.

Ashvin Gidwani’s Devdas – The Musical is 100-minute multi-starrer that explores the saga of star-crossed lovers Devdas and Paro, torn apart by unfortunate circumstances. This iconic tale of love in its purest form has been re-told time and again, the most notable on-screen adaptation being a Bollywood blockbuster movie starring Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan in 2002.

Now, watch this timeless tale come to life in an incredible Broadway-style production with
elaborate set designs, vibrant colours, evocative lighting and special effects that recreate the opulence of India’s former capital, Calcutta, during the early 1900s, which acts as a spectacular backdrop for the musical, featuring unforgettable music, exhilarating choreography, and a heart-rending, universal story — all packaged together to create one of the most gorgeous theatre productions ever brought to life on stage.

There will be two shows in Hindi with English surtitles at 8pm on Friday, 21 April and Saturday, 22 April, and two shows in English with Mandarin surtitles on Saturday, 22 April at 3pm and on Sunday, 23 April at 5pm at the Esplanade Theatre.

This multifaceted production features prodigious performances from well-known Bollywood actors such as Sunil Kumar Palwal, Aanchal Chauhan, Bhavna Pani, Jayesh Thakkar and Smita Jaykar, who play key roles in the musical. Adding to the star-studded lineup is Arif Zakaria, who will play the role of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, the writer of the classic tale. The musical is further enriched with songs from the original score of the Bollywood chartbuster movie Devdas, as well as mesmerising new melodies – such as Woh Zindagi Hi Kya, Shyam Tore Rang Me, Toota Re Manwa – that feature an entirely original soundtrack sung by some of the most prominent Bollywood singers including Shaan, Kailash Kher, Alka Yagnik, Suresh Wadkar, Shail Hada, Bhoomi Trivedi and Antara Mitra.

In addition to the songs, the musical boasts of an elaborate and larger-than-life stage design. The poignant music is brought to life by graceful choreography, featuring stunning performances and a fusion of Indian classic and contemporary dance styles artistically choreographed by passionate Choreographer Devendra Singh (Debu).

Eminent British theatre director, writer, actor, and teacher Toby Gough — who previously
scripted The Merchants of Bollywood, Taj Express and is well-known for devising multi-cultural adaptations of Shakespeare plays — comes on board as the Creative Director for this grand musical, which is co-directed by renowned Indian director Ranga Godbole. Together with Technical Director & Production Designer Tom Kitney, Ashvin Gidwani’s Devdas – The Musical is sure to be a show that’s not to be missed.
