Following the listing on the SET, the Company plans to increase its outlay in 2020-2022 with no less than 1,068 million baht in investment, divided into 270 million baht in the ethnic food group through the increase in manufacturing capacity and improvement in the Company’s manufacturing process, and that of City Food’s that will help to increase production by about 35 percent from today’s 19,000 tons per year, as well as the plan to buy the remaining 85 percent shares in City Food Company Limited, where the Company has already invested 15 percent of registered capital. At present, NRF holds 25 percent of this venture and plans to increase the share in the company by another 25 percent to 50 percent in 2021.

NRF will also invest in the second production line for konnyaku to increase production capacity that is expected to ramp up production in Q4/2020.

10.10 to Be the Biggest One Yet & These Are the Items Southeast Asians Are Looking for

The latter part of the online sales period is just around the corner and it is expected to be the biggest one yet. With COVID-19 sending people to shop online more than ever this year, 10.10 is likely to be an explosive beginning of the end-of-the-year sales.

In line with this upcoming event, iPrice Group determined the top 3 products/categories with the most Google impressions in each of the e-Commerce aggregator’s Southeast Asian platforms during the hype of the 10.10 sale. Based on Google trends’ data, the hype period is between September 20 to October 5, 2020 as big e-Commerce giants like Shopee, Lazada, Zalora, Bukalapak, and more promote their respective year-end sales.

Here are the most interesting insights from the study:

All countries, except Singapore, are most excited about electronics.

Smartphones are dominating the top searches in each market. Interestingly enough, however, Apple smartphones are popular only in Thailand and Malaysia, while Android phones are the most popular in the rest of the countries.

Singapore is the least excited about smartphones, as Home & Living, specifically IKEA products, dominate their top searches. But smartphones still fall in number three of the city-state’s most-searched products.

In the Philippines, two of their top searches fall in the electronics category as Asus laptops come in second to Vivo smartphones.

There seems to be a gardening fad in Indonesia.

With recent reports on plant-purchasing trends in other areas of the world, Indonesia seems to be in on the fad as its second most-searched items are plant shelves. As mentioned in one of the reports, people want to start feeling good about staying at home. Hence, they are adding green into their homes.

Not to mention that gardening can be quite a therapeutic hobby to pick up during a pandemic.

Sports & Outdoor products are sought-after in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

2020 must be the year that people spent a lot of their time indoors. Given that, Singaporeans, Malaysians, Filipinos, and the Vietnamese must be looking for alternative ways of exercising because of the full or partial closure of gyms/sports facilities due to COVID-19.

Singaporeans and the Vietnamese seem to be on the lookout for sports shoes (Nike and Adidas), while Malaysians are searching for sweet deals on Decathlon, as they haven’t been on complete lockdown for quite some time now.

Filipinos are searching specifically for bicycles, which backs up recent data on how Filipino’s interest in bicycles is spiking in 2020 due to the country’s restrictions on mass transportation.

Fashion items remain of interest for half of the markets (Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia).

Will people still be able to dress-to-impress during a pandemic? Evidently in those countries that have contained the virus and are on looser social distancing measures.

Thailand seems to be back to flaunting Gucci bags as they’ve been reported to contain the virus well, while their Vietnamese neighbors, who are experiencing the same success with the virus, have been looking for Juno fashion shoes.

Meanwhile, despite the recent spike of cases in East Malaysia, residents in non-red zone areas of Malaysia are still out and about. This may explain why Malaysians are also excited for Uniqlo products this coming 10.10, aside from its recent release of Airism masks in the country.

Methodology

Findings from this study were highlighted based on products or categories with the most impressions across iPrice database via Google Analytics from September 20 – October 5, 2020. Impressions are counted each time the mentioned product or category is shown on a search result page or other sites on the Google Network.

Iconic Maepranom chili sauce now in convenient, modern tube format

Maepranom (Mother “Pranom”) chilli sauce, which has been in Thai households for over 60 years, has launched a tube version of its iconic sauce. We have seen Maepranom collaborating with the biscuit stick brand Pretz to appeal to the younger demographic. Similarly, Maepranom in tube is aimed at connecting with younger consumers with a convenient and portable chili sauce in tube packaging for easy application on food. Maepranom in tube is available in sweet chili sauce (95g) and Thai chili paste (95g).

The tube packaging has already helped the sweetened condensed milk category to connect with younger consumers. Now, the same strategy is being replicated for the sauce category with the same result.

The convenient Maepranom chili sauces in tube are ideal for various dishes.

adidas to launch first regional Super Brand Day in Southeast Asia as part of the Shopee 10.10 Brands Festival

The adidas Super Brand Day rejuvenates the online sports shopping experience with interactive fitness content, entertaining games and exclusive product deals.

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 OCTOBER 2020 Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, collaborates with adidas to launch “Ready for Sport”, its first regional Super Brand Day (SBD) across six markets, as part of the Shopee 10.10 Brands Festival. Through this collaboration, adidas aims to reinvent the online sports shopping experience to reach and engage more mobile-first shoppers via Shopee, as part of their growth strategy for e-commerce in the region.

With mass sporting events on hold and slower retail traffic in this new normal, more people are choosing to work out and shop from home to stay healthy, leading to a boom in demand for athleisure products and sports gear. The adidas Super Brand Day serves to excite users with fun and interactive ways of shopping for adidas products on Shopee. For instance, users can participate in sports challenges led by their favourite KOLs and celebrities on their Instagram channels. As livestream shopping continues to gain prominence among shoppers in our region, adidas will also be hosting Shopee Live sessions where users can win prizes, score exclusive discount vouchers and purchase adidas products featured during the stream.

Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director of Shopee said, “Sports and athleisure is a growing category as more of our users turn to shopping online for convenience and to get the best deals on Shopee. We’re proud and excited to partner with adidas in bringing their first Super Brand Day on Shopee, where users can have the opportunity to enjoy a more interactive experience when shopping online for adidas products. We’ll also strive to support adidas in reaching more shoppers, and we’re confident that the popularity of our Super Brand Day campaigns will help to boost their online visibility, traffic and sales. We remain committed to supporting brands in achieving their e-commerce ambitions through our robust suite of brand solutions.”

From 9 to 11 October, Shopee users will get to access special content features on Shopee Live, take part in games and activities, and enjoy promotions on the adidas official store. During the three days, users can look forward to:
