Thailand’s premium soy milk product manufacturer Tofusan has showcased its two latest products at the recently concluded Thaifex 2019 in Bangkok.

To ensure it remains competitive in the export market, Tofusan has unveiled the UHT version of its organic soy milk. At the moment, Tofusan’s soy milk has to be refrigerated and is not UHT, which limits its export appeal.

The low sugar UHT soy milk comprises 98% organic soy milk and 2% organic sugar. The sugar content is 4g per 180ml.

Tofusan UHT soy milk is available in two sizes – 180ml and 230ml and both are in SIG packaging. The UHT soy milk will debut in August 2019.

Jack’s Cold Brew

Tofusan is extending the brand into the cold brew coffee segment with Jack’s Cold Brew. This drink is expected to be launched in August 2019.

Jack’s Cold Brew is positioned as a premium coffee. The cold brew coffee is made from 100% Arabica coffee, ready to drink and offers natural energy. The 280ml drink in glass bottle is available in three variants Black (unsweetened), Mocha (full taste) and Latte (bold and smooth).

The key ingredients in Mocha are cold brew coffee extract, sugar, cocoa, whole milk, sodium caseinate, non-dairy creamer and maltodextrin. The total calories based on a serving size of 280ml is 130kcal, total fat 4.5g, sodium 50mg, total carbohydrate 24g and protein 5g.

Black unsweetened cold brew coffee contains only cold brew coffee extract. The total calories based on a serving size of 280ml is 15kcal, total fat 0g, sodium 0mg, total carbohydrate 3g and protein less than 1g.

Latte is made of cold brew coffee extract, sugar, whole milk, sodium caseinate, non-dairy creamer and maltodextrin. The total calories on a 280ml basis is 140kcal, total fat 4.5g, sodium 50g, total carbohydrate 24g and protein 5g.

The RTD cold brew coffee scene is relatively quiet in Thailand compared to neighbouring Malaysia where Nestle’s Nescafe has introduced a range of cold brew coffee. Nescafe Cold Brew is also available in Singapore, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong and Macau. The launch of Tofusan’s Jack’s Cold Brew could reinvigorate the RTD cold brew scene in Thailand.

Dr Abdullah Noel, the founder of Pusat Jagaan Siti Nor Aini named the home after his wife Siti Nor Aini Chelladurai. For 10 years and counting, the home has been providing shelter and care for homeless senior citizens, including those who are chronically ill. The home now currently cares for 53 residents with the great help and service of 17 staff members through donations from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat and Lembaga Zakat.

To generate further income to support the needs and welfare of the residents, the home will also be starting their own spa and car wash service. Besides being a shelter for the elderly, the home aims to provide support for the underprivileged Muslim community.

The evening begun with a free health screening as the Tigas Alliance team checked the residents’ blood pressure and glucose level. The screening was conducted to create greater awareness on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and as a reminder on the essentials of medical check-ups in maintaining good health, especially among the elderly. The team also shared healthy eating habits and suggested pharmaceutical vitamins and supplements to help improve the current health conditions of the elderly.

Elaine Chai, ‘#rockstarpharmacist’ from Farmasi Tigas Alliance said, “We are more than grateful that 7-Eleven Malaysia had provided us with an opportunity to join this CSR activity and serve the community in need with our professional LiveMax services. This is a wonderful experience for us to be a part of creating awareness for the underprivileged community on the importance of healthy lifestyle habits”. Staying true to their tagline of “A pharmacy you can talk to”, Tigas Alliance focuses on providing consultation services with their very own professionally-trained & licensed pharmacists they proudly call #rockstarpharmacists.

The event ended with the volunteers and residents breaking fast together with a scrumptious spread of local favourites such as biriyani rice, beef stew, Malay-style red chicken curry and many more. 7-Eleven Malaysia also distributed goodie bags that contained a variety of snacks for the residents to enjoy.

“It is a pleasure to be spending time with and providing health screenings for the residents of Pusat Jagaan Nor Aini during this Ramadan period. As the festive season nears, they would appreciate having some company as it gives them the assurance that there are others who are care for them.
