Nabati goguma series endorsed by South Korean boy band Enhypen

Indonesia’s Nabati Group has launched two new products inspired by goguma, the Korean word for sweet potatoes. Goguma are known for their sweet, soft, and fluffy insides and purple skin. The new products inspired by the Korean goguma ppang or sweet potato bread can be found in the Nextar Cookies, Nabati Wafer, and Ahh Stick lines.

South Korean boy band Enhypen is the brand ambassador for the series. The new goguma series shows how Korean ingredients and flavours can be used to create winning recipes that appeal to young consumers, especially Gen Z.

New Amani yogurt drink flavours Yuzu Orange and Blueberry

OT Group’s Amani ambient yogurt drink now has a new flavour. The latest Yuzu Orange flavour is a combination of the citrusy and sweet flavour profiles. The other new flavour is blueberry.

New spicy BonCabe Kulit Pangsit Level 10

PT Kobe Boga Utama’s latest spicy snack is BonCabe Kulit Pangsit Level 10. The new snack uses kulit pangsit or wonton skin as the base ingredient. Wonton skin is used as a wrapper with minced meat but can also be fried on its own as a snack.

OT Group new launches including FRUZZ and Imperial Creme

Indonesia’s OT Group, which has a new brand logo, has recently launched two new products: FRUZZ and Imperial Creme. FRUZZ is a fruit combo chewy candy with the following flavour combinations: lychee grape, pineapple passionfruit, yuzu berries, orange mango and strawberry blackcurrant.

Imperial Creme is a milk biscuit that comes with two types of fillings: cream and jam.

OT Group other new products include Cannon Ball with chocolate that is crunchy outside and chewy inside and twice the size as well as the new Tango Walut Belgian Choco.

OT Blaster Choco Mint Candy is another launch featuring a new formulation with 33% extra filler.

OT’s Tango Waffle Latte series is a wafer that is inspired by coffee flavours: Mocha, Aren (Palm Sugar) and Avocado with a rice crispy filling and Seruput coffee.

 

BonCabe celebrates extreme spicy taste with Indonesia’s spiciest snack

Boncabe by Indonesia’s PT Kobe Boga Utama has unveiled the extremely spicy BonCabe Makaroni Snack with a level 50 spiciness. The level 50 spiciness is the highest by BonCabe.

The Boncabe Max End level 50 is a continuation of a popular strategy by F&B players to challenge consumers to the extreme taste. The Indonesia World Records Museum (MURI) has certified Boncabe Max End level 50 as Indonesia’s spiciest snack.

The company has previously launched the seasoning powder BonCabe Sambal Tabur Level 50 Max End, which has garnered popular responses from consumers. As the next step, Kobe Boga Utama has now introduced Level 50 Max End to its BonCabe Makaroni Snack.

For children and adults who do not like the spicy taste, Kobe Boga Utama has introduced Snack Boncabe Makaroni Kripsi Rasa Original Level Zero.

PepsiCo returns to Indonesia with the building of a new factory in Cikarang

In an interesting twist of development, US food and beverage maker PepsiCo is returning to Indonesia with the building of a new snack factory in Cikarang in West Java. PepsiCo broke away from its local partner two years ago, ending their 30-year-old joint venture in 2021.

Now, PepsiCo will have a free reign to determine the strategies to unlock opportunities in the Indonesian snack market. PepsiCo was a minority partner in the joint venture with a 49% stake in PT Indofood Fritolay Makmur.

We expect the new Cikarang factory will support PepsiCo’s food operations in Southeast Asia.

New Homey Vegan Tomato Flavour Instant Glass Noodle launched in Malaysia

Malaysia’s Li-Ter Vegetarian Trading Sdn Bhd, the owner of the Homey brand, has launched its latest Vegan Tomato Flavour Instant Glass Noodle. The new product is the latest addition to the popular Vegan Mala Spicy & Sour Glass Noodle.

Mala and tomato flavours have gained popularity in Malaysia thanks to the proliferation of hotpot chains in the country.

Teh Gelas RTD tea in Indonesia by OT Group, has recently refreshed the brand with the launch of four flavoured RTD tea. The latest flavours are: orange & lemon, grass jelly & aloe vera, berry and honey lemon.

Wyeth Nutrition adds 150% more sphingomyelin into S-26 Gold Pro UHT milk

Wyeth Nutrition has launched S-26 Gold Pro UHT milk in Thailand with 150% more sphingomyelin to support brain development. The new formulation also has 3 times more DHA. It has omega 3, 6 and 9 and other vitamins to support growth. 

The company has also launched Wyeth Nutrition S26 Gold Stage 3 with a new look and a formulation. The milk powder now has 25% more sphingomyelin.

Burger King Thailand relaunches Black and Pink menu

Burger King Thailand has reintroduced the popular Black and Pink burgers with a focus on affordable pricing. The fast food chain first introduced these Blackpink-inspired burgers in 2021 during Valentine’s Day. The contrasting burgers feature naturally colored black and pink buns. The lowest price back then was THB 89. Now Burger King is offering Pink Fish Fillet Burger at THB 79 and the Black Whopper Junior at THB 149.

Burger King Thailand is focusing on offering diners with the impression of value for money to retain and expand its customer base.

The fast food chain has plans to increase the share of online order by another 5-10% in 1-2 years from 30-40% currently.
