Ice Cream Bar Studio Miri X Croffle presented its Tuak ice cream at the recently held FHA-Food & Beverage 2023 in Singapore. Tuak is a famous rice wine in Sarawak made from fermented glutinous rice, yeast, water and sugar.

We have seen many applications of alcohol in cold treats including the latest sensation moutai-infused ice cream in China now available in packaged format.

Tuak ice cream has a low alcohol content to keep the ice cream stable. It comes with various flavours including ginger, passion fruit and roselle.

Tuak ice cream has potential in Malaysia especially in specialty stores and foodservice that serve non-halal options. Tuak ice cream taps into local sourcing and provenance, while presenting consumers with a new way to enjoy local rice wine in an easy-to-consume format.

AJE expands D’Gussto range

AJE, the producer of Big carbonated drinks, showcased three new products under its D’Gussto (ดิ’กุสโต้) brand at FHA-Food & Beverage 2023, which was held recently in Singapore. The company first debuted its premium canned saba fish in tomato sauce in Thailand in 2022 as part of a move to transform itself into a more diversified FMCG company.

The three D’Gussto food products include Chocolate Malt Cereal, Korean Seaweed Roll and Biscuit Stick Coated with Chocolate. These products are suitable for both modern and traditional trade channels. AJE has the existing distribution network to cross promote its food range.

AJETHAI Co Ltd’s total revenue in 2021 fell 2.7% year-on-year to THB 2.9 billion with net profit slumped 75% to THB 32 million, according to data from the Department of Business Development.

Lotte launches Koala’s March Rich Matcha with premium Japanese uji matcha taste

Lotte has launched Koala’s March Rich Matcha to offer an indulgent Japanese uji matcha experience to Thai consumers. The uji matcha is 100% imported from Japan. To sweeten the deal, Lotte is offering prizes including Gucci bag and Louis Vuitton bag as well as other prizes. The luxury bags are especially appealing to female consumers.

Koala’s March Rich Matcha is priced at THB 25 and is available at 7-Eleven.

Kato celebrates summer with fun flavours

Berli Jucker’s Kato has launched three summer drinks. The three fun flavours for summer are Caramel Butter Beer, Apple Cream Soda and Mango Bingsu.

The brand has also released two other mocktail flavours – Pina Colada and Blue Hawaii.

OOHA Flavored Soda made its debut in Thailand

The Coca-Cola Co’s latest OOHA flavoured soda in Thailand is set to shake up the carbonated soft drinks market. The drink has interesting flavours without the ‘nasties’ such as sugar, calorie and fat. OOHA offers consumers, aged 16-25 who are the so-called Gen Zs, with a better-for-you option to replace their usual carbonated soft drinks.

In Thailand, OOHA is available in Lychee & Yogurt and Lemon & Sea Salt.

If OOHA is launched in Malaysia, it will compete with Vida and possibly with Genki Forest for a share of throat.

Playmore Jelly Paste is a versatile food decorative tool

Playmore Thailand has launched Jelly Paste that gives consumers the tool to decorate their food and drink. The new Jelly Paste is available in Strawberry and Grape and is priced at THB 20 at 7-Eleven.

Other new Playmore’s products include Sour Worm Gummy and Fried Egg Pudding Gummy.

Vietnam gets its Tiger Soju Infused Lager

Heineken has rolled out its latest Tiger Soju Infused Lager in Vietnam following its launch in Singapore. Tiger Soju Infused Lager comes in Cheeky Plum and Wonder Melon flavours. The drink is a mixture of Tiger beer and South Korea’s national drink soju.

In Singapore, the soju content of Cheeky Plum is minimal at 0.02%.

The alcohol content of Tiger Soju Infused Lager in Singapore is 5.5% but in Vietnam, it is lower at 4%.

Heineken has partnered with G-DRAGON, renowned South Korean artist, leader of BigBang and international trendsetter at the forefront of music, fashion, and culture to suport the launch.
