Hee Jenn Wei, Head of Transport and GrabPay Marketing for Grab Malaysia; Denise Tan, Founder of Riding Pink, Pearl Lai, Corporate Affairs Director of Carlsberg Malaysia; Stefano Clini, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia; Ashley Suelyn, Chief of Staff of SOCAR Malaysia; Datin Sri Kristine Anne Williams, Director of Public Relations, Communications & Marketing of Lailah Malaysia; and John So, co-founder of DriveSafe.

Carlsberg Malaysia encourages no drink-driving with increased awareness and discounted rides through more partnerships in its annual responsible drinking campaign

SHAH ALAM, 25 September 2020 – Had one glass too many? Carlsberg Malaysia urges consumers to be responsible drinkers and not get behind the wheel after even just one drink!

Stepping up on its annual #CelebrateResponsibly campaign this year, the brewer rolled out integrated awareness, education and engagement activities to curb drink driving, with more than 5,000 discounted rides from GrabCar and Riding Pink worth RM10 plus a 10% discount from SOCAR+, LaiLah and DriveSafe to change consumers’ mindset and behaviour on drinking and driving.

From now until the end of November, simply use the promotional code CELEBRATERESPONSIBLY to enjoy RM10 or 10% off your ride home from more than 1,800 Carlsberg Malaysia’s affiliated bars, bistros and restaurants nationwide. The code is activated
between 7pm and 12am every day until 30 November and is valid only for rides from Carlsberg F&B outlets listed on www.carlsbergmalaysia.com.my while rides last.

Carlsberg Malaysia’s Corporate Affairs Director Pearl Lai commented, “The spotlight on tragic drink-driving fatalities and the stricter laws tabled for driving under the influence are sober
reminders of the consequences of irresponsible drinking. As a responsible brewer, we have zero tolerance towards drink driving. This irresponsible drinking behaviour is not only against the
spirit of responsible consumption but is also an endangerment of public safety. Our message is simple – if you drink, don’t drive!”

“We welcome the introduction of Road Transport (Amendment) Bill 2020 and pledge our support towards the Ministry of Transport in advocating no driving under the influence. With
more activities, investments and partnerships backing our #CelebrateResponsibly campaign this year, we hope consumers will adopt responsible drinking habits simply by choosing to leave
their car keys behind or in the hands of a sober driver, such as our new and current e-hailing and chauffeur partners. Consumers must not drink and drive regardless of one’s blood alcohol content level,” Lai added.

Running for 6th consecutive years, #CelebrateResponsibly is Carlsberg Malaysia’s annual responsible drinking campaign in support of the Global Be(er) Responsibility Day (GBRD) in September – a worldwide initiative to promote the responsible consumption of beer – as part of the Carlsberg Group’s global commitment towards ZERO Irresponsible Drinking under its Together Towards ZERO sustainability ambitions. To date, the campaign has reached more than 76,000 consumers since it began in 2015 with close to 1,800 free and subsidised e-hailing rides redeemed in 2019 alone.

Speaking on the partnership, Hee Jenn Wei, Head of Transport and GrabPay Marketing for Grab Malaysia, said, “At Grab, our mission is to create a safer journey every day for all Malaysians. In an effort to reduce road accidents caused by drunk driving, we are thrilled to be working with Carlsberg to eliminate these incidents and help passengers make the right choice to get home safely. Together with our driver-partners, as designated drivers, we help provide passengers with a safe and reliable way home after a night out.”

Denise Tan, Founder of Riding Pink, commented, “We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Carlsberg Malaysia in this initiative to promote responsible drinking habits. With our recent expansion in Johor Bahru, we aim to empower more women to celebrate responsibly by providing a women-only ride-hailing service that values convenience, privacy and personal safety.”

This year, the campaign welcomes three new partners – SOCAR, Lailah and DriveSafe, catering to drinkers within the Klang Valley with more market centres covered in the future.

or SOCAR, a 10% discount is applicable only on SOCAR+, a new service which expands on its core car-sharing app by adding the safety, convenience and service of a personal driver. SOCAR+ drivers can accommodate multiple stops, long waiting times and pick-ups for other passengers, which is especially ideal for a night out drinking as a group.

Leon Foong, Chief Executive Officer of SOCAR Malaysia, said, “Through this collaboration with Carlsberg Malaysia, we want to empower Malaysian road users to make the choice of being
safe while enjoying a night out. With our new SOCAR+ on-demand personal driver service, SOCAR members can choose from a variety of car models for their chauffeur-driven night out
and make unlimited stops for the whole group within a single booking without worrying about having to leave their cars behind.”

Already out for a few drinks but hesitant to leave your car away from home? The same promotional code entitles users to 10% chauffeur-on-call bookings with Lailah and DriveSafe, which provide chauffeurs to drive drinkers home in their own cars. to curb irresponsible drinking by providing on-demand personal driver services designed specifically to get you and your car safely home after a night out. Lailah’s drivers drive you home in your own car so you do not need to go through the trouble of retrieving it the next day. Our services are now fully insured with live tracking systems in place and all our drivers come dressed in Lailah’s corporate uniform and ID tags, ensuring our customers’ safety at all times.”

John So, co-founder of DriveSafe, added, “DriveSafe is a young company but with big plans for improved user experience and bigger service coverage. Introducing The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old and 18 Years Old – The Perfect Harmony of American and European Oak

The Macallan has released Double Cask 15 Years Old and Double Cask 18 Years Old in a significant expansion of the highly successful range.

First introduced in 2016 with The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, the enticing collection is formed from a harmonious union of American and European oak sherry seasoned casks. Together they combine to create a perfectly balanced single malt Scotch whisky with a distinctive warm character that is punctuated with a contemporary soft sweetness.

Double Cask tells the story of a journey which brings together two different worlds. The voyage begins in the vast green forests of northern Spain and the French Pyrenees, where The Macallan sources its European oak. New oak from the lush forests of Ohio, Missouri and Kentucky in America is also transported thousands of miles to Spain, where both types of oak are hand crafted into casks that are filled with sherry.

Once seasoned, the casks are shipped to The Macallan Estate on Speyside where they are filled with new-make spirit. Following years of slumber, The Macallan’s Whisky Mastery Team use their skill and expertise to select the best balance of spirit from both the American and European oak sherry seasoned casks to create Double Cask.

The result is a perfect partnership, with the sherry seasoned American oak imparting delicate flavours of vanilla, while the European oak delivers the subtle and unmistakeable spice and classic style of The Macallan.

The incredible wood journey which underpins Double Cask was recently showcased by a collaboration with iconic Magnum photographer Steve McCurry, who travelled across continents to witness The Macallan’s decisive story unfold. His exclusive photographic journal documents the people, places, skills and processes involved in the production of The Macallan’s exceptional oak casks.

The new expressions will significantly enhance the existing Double Cask range, which lies at the heart of The Macallan’s portfolio of single malts and is a popular choice with whisky lovers around the world.

Displaying a golden butterscotch hue, The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old imparts aromas of dried fruit, toffee and vanilla, and delivers a warming finish with a creamy mouthfeel.

The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old has a rich amber honey tone, and imparts notes of dried fruits, ginger and toffee. A warm oak spice finish is balanced by citrus flavours of sweet orange.

Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker, The Macallan, said: “Bringing together American and European oak sherry seasoned casks to achieve the perfect balance of flavours is incredibly exciting for the Whisky Mastery Team, and we are proud to offer two new expressions to this distinctive range for The Macallan Double Cask fans to explore.

“With Double Cask 15 Years Old, the delicate and indulgent flavours of American oak including honey, citrus and chocolate balance The Macallan’s more traditional characteristics of rich fruits, sherry and wood spice. The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old offers slightly more complexity, with rich raisin and sultana subtly balanced by warming oak spice.

“Oak influence is the single greatest contributor to the quality, natural colour and distinctive aromas and flavours at the heart of The Macallan’s single malts.”

The new Double Cask expressions demonstrate The Macallan’s enduring desire to go beyond the ordinary, to seek out the extraordinary, and create peerless single malts.

The Macallan Double Cask range will be available in The Macallan E-Boutique, majority premium bars and retailers from October 2020.

JGDEV Invests in SEA’s Leading Shopping Companion Amid Global Pandemic

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, September 18, 2020 – Southeast Asia’s leading e-commerce aggregator, iPrice Group, raises an additional undisclosed amount from JG Digital Equity Ventures, Inc. (JGDEV) to its series B investment amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Through its group of companies, JGDEV provides iPrice with a wide range of opportunities to be Southeast Asia’s best shopping companion and e-Commerce enabler.

iPrice’s platforms continue to grow in web traffic (up to 60%) since social distancing measures were set in place across the region. Overall, the e-commerce industry enables consumer spending to continue especially with social distancing. Before COVID-19, a Google-backed report predicted that Southeast Asia’s e-Commerce would reach $180 billion by 2025. However, with e-Commerce’s recent accelerated adoption, the industry is expected to experience a hypercharged growth. Hence, e-Commerce may even rise above the projected GMV.

Amidst the rising e-Commerce trend, iPrice positions itself as the leading shopping companion to consumers and an e-Commerce enabler to digital gateways, such as online media and super apps.

“iPrice has a unique approach. It doesn’t aim to compete with other players, but instead, it enables these players to have more channels. As a result, it connects them to more consumers. iPrice is more than just being exposed to the recent e-Commerce trend; it enables consumer transactions to be deeper and wider through its comprehensive understanding of the digital economy,” said JGDEV President and Chief Executive Officer Jojo Malolos.

Opportunities to Bring More Value to Filipino Consumers through the Gokongwei Group’s Ecosystem

iPrice enables consumers to access e-Commerce in the diverse digital economy through its partnerships. With JGDEV, it begins with RewardsMart in the Robinsons Rewards mobile app and Summit Media’s online domain, PEP.ph.

iPrice now allows Robinsons Rewards users to access millions of products from thousands of merchants across the Philippines. The e-commerce aggregator ensures the best shopping experience by providing a platform that compares products, prices, delivery schedules, and offers vouchers and coupons.

Meanwhile, PEP.ph readers are now able to access exclusive online coupons and promos in a wide range of categories, such as ElectronicsFashionBeauty & Health. Offers from e-Commerce giants like LazadaShopeeZalora, , Cebu Pacific, and PayMaya will be readily available on the PEP website as well.

Robinsons Rewards and PEP.ph are just two of the startup’s potential partnerships and solutions. iPrice and JGDEV will continuously explore more opportunities across the Gokongwei Group of Companies that may bring more ease to Filipino shoppers.

“iPrice’s value proposition is focused on helping shoppers navigate the complex and often confusing e-Commerce space. We have previously provided services to users searching for options on Google. Given many consumers start their e-commerce journeys in other places, we are providing these same services to partners. With the breadth of JGDEV’s businesses, there is a multitude of opportunities for cooperation,” said iPrice Group Chief Executive Officer Paul Brown-Kenyon.

With JGDEV’s mission to find sustainable and scalable business models that can create value for the core businesses of the Gokongwei Group ecosystem, this investment partnership will prove to be symbiotic. The Gokongwei Group ecosystem focuses on e-Commerce and exploring new technological innovations. JGDEV promises a fast-moving dynamic among its organizations to deliver the best value it can bring to its consumers.

JGDEV also aims to create an impact on consumers, business growth, and the future of the economy. With its new relationship with iPrice, it is enabled to further achieve this. Currently, there are many more opportunities being explored with the Gokongwei Group ecosystem that can take its current value proposition a step further. At the same time, iPrice will continue to reach its objective to be present everywhere for Southeast Asian consumers. It will continue to be the region’s leading shopping companion and e-commerce enabler.

This investment is a continuation of iPrice Group’s Series B Investment, led by ACA Investments Pte Ltd with participation by Daiwa PI Partners, and returning investors LINE Ventures, Mirae Asset-Naver Asia Growth Fund.
