Ete launches healthy-for-you fingerroot ice cream

Ete ice cream has jumped into the fingerroot or kaempferia bandwagon in Thailand with the launch of fingerroot ice cream. The honey lime flavoured ice cream helps to boost the immune system.

In Thailand, there has been a rise in food, drink and VMS innovation featuring fingerroot, a traditional Thai medicine, following the association with the treatment of COVID-19.

The fingerroot ice cream comes with konjac for the added texture.

Suntory PepsiCo differentiates in RTD space with flash brew coffee

Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand) has unveiled a new range of flash brew coffee under the Boss Coffee brand. Flash brewed coffee, or Japanese-style Iced Coffee is a method of brewing iced coffee that’s full of flavor and aroma, with no chilling time required.

Suntory PepsiCo is using flash brew to penetrate the premium RTD coffee category to bring the first flash brewed RTD coffee into the local market.

The target groups are working age individuals and coffee lovers between the ages of 25 and 35, as well as as those looking for RTD coffee that is less sweet.

The latest flash brew coffee (250ml) has 3 SKUs – Mildly Sweet, No Sugar and Latte.

B-On Vitamin B Complex Drink fortified with ginkgo, GABA for brain health

Uni-President (Thailand) Ltd, the maker of Unif juices, has launched B-On Vitamin B Complex Drink in Thailand. B-On is a range of functional drinks with brain-beneficial vitamin B complex added with functional ingredients like GABA to help the brain relax (Goodday), inositol (19mg) (Livelyday) and ginkgo (36mg) to nourish the brain (Easyday).

The product leverages on the brain heath benefit of vitamin B complex reinforced with well recognised brain improving ingredients and an easy-to-understand on-pack messaging.

Lay’s two new flavours – Charcoal Grilled Chicken and Capelin Roe Mayonnaise Onigiri

Lay’s Thailand is offering Lay’s in two new flavours – Charcoal Grilled Chicken and Capelin Roe Mayonnaise Onigiri. The Capelin Roe Mayonnaise Onigiri is based on Ezygo’s Capelin Roe Mayonnaise Onigiri.

The potato chip brand of PepsiCo has also introduced Lay’s Stax Oregano as part of the Celebration series. The other Celebration flavour is Waygu Steak.

Plant-based unMEAT comes to Singapore

Century Pacific Food Inc has introduced unMEAT in Singapore. unMEAT is made with non-GMO plant-based ingredients, with zero cholesterol and trans-fat, while offering a healthy source of protein and fiber. unMEAT is available in Meat-Free Burger Patties and Meat-Free Minced Meat.

unMEAT is sold at NTUC FairPrice outlets.

The trend we are seeing right now is regional plant-based players, rather than international players like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, will spearhead consumer education and the mainstreaming of plant-based meat in Southeast Asia.

7-Eleven Philippines is offering an elevated spicy taste of its Crunch Time menu with the new Spicy Sriracha Chicken. Consumers can now experience the heat with the addition of sriracha powder in a sachet. The scriracha can also be added into the gravy.

New Nissin Spicy Pork Tonkotsu available in the Philippines

Nissin is offering a taste of Japan with Nissin Spicy Pork Tonkotsu in the Philippines. The new instant noodle is available in pouch (60g) and cup (45g). Each pack comes with a spicy sesame oil, which makes a difference to the noodle.
