New Heng’s Taro Spread and Salted Egg Spread

Heng’s, famous for its Nyonya classic series ready-to-cook paste and sauce in Malaysia, has unveiled two interesting spread products – taro and salted egg. The taro spread is made fresh with real taro and is described as smooth and creamy. The spread can be used on bread.

The salted egg spread, which contains omega 6 and 9, can be used to make various dishes including Golden Salted Egg Burger and Golden Salted Egg Prawns.

Tisha’s new Paratha Low Carb for those on a keto diet

Malaysian frozen food manufacturer Tisha’s has launched a healthy range for those who are on a keto or low-carb diet. It is also suitable for vegetarians. The Paratha Low Carb was created in collaboration with AsianKeto (@Asianketo) and #kakkek (Catriona Ross).

The low-carb paratha comes with different lauk including Rendang Ayam, Sambal Paru, Daging Masak Hitam, Kari Daging, Sambal Udang and Butter Chicken. Lauk in Malay is a dish usually eaten with rice, or in this case paratha.

The paratha is low carb, sugar free, wheat and gluten free, yeast free, nut & diary free and high in fiber. The lauk is low carb, sugar free, wheat and gluten free, nut and diary free.

Origina shifts its attention to alkaline water

Origina, which sells ready-to​-drink (RTD) beverages in retort pouch, is offering alkaline water as a healthy solution. Alkaline water is not a novel concept in Malaysia. In fact, Malaysians have access to alkaline water through water dispensing machines at home or through packaged water.

Globally, akaline water has become a rising trend in the bottled water industry driven mainly by marketing and health claims.

Looking at Origina’s claims below, you will feel that this is a ‘miraculous’ drink. Regardless of how it is advertised, alkaline water is still a water. In our honest opinion, there is no justification to pay a premium for water.

Vinasoy innovates soymilk based on concept of seasonal eating

Vietnam’s number one soy milk player Vinasoy has unveiled new four new products and a new look. The new products under the Fami label are based on the health needs of the different seasons – spring, summer, autumn and winter. The products include soymilk with warming ginger and tofu, coconut milk and black sugar.

The play on seasonality taps into the concept of seasonal eating familiar with Vietnamese consumers. In addition to the new products, the new look is designed to appeal to younger consumers.

 

Suntory All-Free partnered with Pizza Hut Vietnam to promote new beer​-like beverage

Suntory All-Free has collaborated with Pizza Hut Vietnam to pair Pizza Hut meals with Suntory All-Free for an alcohol-free experience, while watching EURO 2020. The move by Suntory is aimed at promoting food and drink pairing for its latest All-Free non-alcoholic, zero calorie malt beverage from Japan.

Suntory All-Free is also available for purchase at Select and Buy (S&B) vending machines.

Ichitan adds Houjicha Mildly Sweet flavoured RTD tea under Shizuoka

Thailand’s Ichitan has expanded the Shizuoka RTD tea range with the addition of Houjicha Mildly Sweet flavoured RTD tea. The tea is made from 100% imported tea leaves from Japan. This is the mildly sweet version of the existing houjicha tea. It has been a while since Ichitan launched any new product under the Shizuoka premium RTD range likely due to the shift in attention towards more relevant products for the pandemic. The last new Shizuoka RTD tea was launched in 2020.

Examples of healthy beverages introduced by Ichitan in the past few months include PH Plus 8. 5 with Vitamin D, Ginkgo PH Plus 8.5 with Vitamin B Complex, Ichitan Vitamin Water C Plus E and Ichitan Vitt CC.

The new Ichitan Houjicha Mildly Sweet is lower in caffeine and has a mellow taste and aroma.

Vitaday rolls out new lychee collagen drink

Vitaday by Thailand’s General Beverage has launched a new lychee flavoured collagen drink with 5,000mg of collagen. In addition to collagen, it also has vitamin C that meets 200% of RDI. The Quali-C vitamin C is imported from the UK, while the collagen is sourced from Japan.

General Beverage reported a 11.83% year-on-year growth in total revenue in 2020 to THB 1.8 billion. Net profit fell 9% to THB 67 million following the rise in total expenses by 14.19%.
