Ichitan brings Chinese sour plum drink into the Thai market

Ichitan has introduced the Chinese sour plum drink into the Thai market under its Yen Yen herbal tea brand. The targeted sales for this drink is THB 70 million. In China, sour plum is the perfect summer drink and is often consumed when eating hotpot.

The key ingredients of Yen Yen Sour Plum are plum, chrysanthemum, rosella, licorice, hawthorn, citron orange, peppermint and mulberry. Judging by the marketing messages, Ichitan has depicted Yen Yen Sour Plum as a Chinese drink with the key function of relieving heat/spiciness in line with the brand positioning of Yen Yen.

In Thailand, the new Yen Yen Sour Plum has two SKUs – 315ml selling for THB 10 and 400ml retailing at THB 15.

Oishi releases infused water so that drinking water can be unboring

Oishi has moved into the infused water segment in the Philippines with the launch of In Water. The new flavoured water comes in two SKUs – orange extract and lemon extract with the product message of ‘drinking water doesn’t have to be plain and boring.’ Now you can drinking water the unboring way. The 500ml fruit infused water is priced at PHP 27 at 7-Eleven.

The last time we reported about infused water innovation in the Philippines was in 2019 with the showcasing of Sterling Infused Water at IFEX 2019.

Green Rebel Foods made inroad into plant-based sauces, selling in NTUC FairPrice in Singapore

Green Rebel Foods has shifted its attention to plant-based sauces with the unveiling of Green Rebel Mayo-nice and Green Rebel Caesar Dressing in Indonesia. These sauces are entirely plant-based with none of the eggs and dairy.

Starbucks Thailand offers plant-based seafood dishes, oat milk

Starbucks Thailand is offering plant-based seafood dishes including Plant-Based Crab Cake Sesame Brioche and Plant-Based Tuna Melt Croissant as well as Plant-Based Spicy Tuna. The choice of plant-based seafood menu items indicate a shift in focus towards replacing seafood with seafood alternatives.

Also available for the Thai vegetarian festival are Brown Sugar Oatmilk Iced Shaken Espresso, Chocolate Malt Oatmilk Iced Shaken Espresso and Brown Sugar Cocoa Oatmilk Frappuccino.

Cafe Amazon aims to reach 20 outlets in Vietnam by 2022

Cafe Amazon from Thailand has just opened its 14th outlet in Vietnam. The latest Cafe Amazon HAI Ba Trung is located in Ho Chi Minh City where the company currently has 10 outlets and the rest in other cities including Ben Tre, Tra Vinh and My Tho. The aim is to have 20 stores in Vietnam by 2022.
